The Thing I love about the Farm- Babies!
So we had our latest 2 batches of chicks hatch today and yesterday.
Spot hatched out 3, in the brooder box. You see 4 in the picture because F1 hatched out 1 in the coop a little early. What can happen if the chicks are too far apart, then the older chick will wander before the rest are hatched.
A couple things can happen. 1 - the older chick will get pecked by the other adults. 2- mom will follow the older chick and abandon the eggs. or 3- mom stays on the eggs and chick gets lost.
Needless to say, we prefer chicks in the broody boxes.
So, as of 2pm. Spot has 4 and F1 has 2 in the main coop.
F1 has several more to hatch, so here's hoping they all hang tight.
