Duck Update
The ducks are doing well, now they are actually looking like real ducks! We have the 3 older females, the black Cayuga ducks, that are now about 2 years old. We bought them off of a guy a few months ago and they are all laying now that summer is upon us.
The younger ducks have all settled into their feathers and are eating us out of house and home! They have the highest conversion rate of all the domestic animals, meaning they grow super fast and need the feed!
They are liking the ponds and now comes the fun part of figuring out how to keep them clean. If we were in a better environment, I would plant cattails and introduce fish to the ecosystem to help keep it clean, also a great way to keep your little farm producing too. Fish for diner anyone?
However, we are in the desert, so water is expensive, so they just have small kiddie pools. Too small for fish.
Is that me?
