Farm-Sitter: Choosing the right Victim
Last week, we decided to go on vacation. One problem, what to do with all the animals and the garden?
Sometimes it can be hard to find a farm-sitter for your feathered friends.
Luckily, Sarah came to the rescue! Sarah is a college student who works in Kyle's lab. Young people can be wonderful farm-sitters. They generally like the foreignness of farm-life and are always in need of a little cash.
For Sarah, the cost of farm-sitting for a week was; $50, 1 chick, eggs and veggies (she collected herself).
Her task list; ALL THE FARM CHORES!
The big thing is, when having a house sitter, make sure you make it as easier as possible for them. A couple things we did included; gathering all the potted plants together so it was easier for watering, we placed the big garden on a dripper set-up so all she had to do was turn on the water spicket (to be honest we did this earlier for our own convenience, but it works here too), and moved all the broody boxes together. There were still several chores that needed to be done, so make sure you find someone who is enthusiastic about farm-life, otherwise you may be a bit disappointed when you return.
All-in-all, make sure you go on vacation. Everyone needs a break, even from paradise!
