Bunny Hutch Remodel

I love free things. Don't you agree? A little elbow-grease will go a long way on your farm.

A friend of mine got out of rabbits about a year ago and so she offered us some of her old hutches.

We decided to jump at the opportunity since there is no such thing as a waste of materials around here, and mainly because our bunnies had figured out how to escape our hutch.

We decided to fix up the 3 door one in front. Makali was less inclined to part with his new perch.

Pretty much all it needed was a new door on one of the boxes, a good scrubbing and some new paint. All the wire is solid and so was a lot of the wood.

I recommend using the nature's miracle cage odor neutralizer for cleaning. It works great!

We used spray paint to make it a little easier with all the small notches. The paint will also help protect the exposed areas from weathering. I did have to take a wire brush to the wood before painting to get the old flakes off.

I also laid a few wooden squares in the floor of the hutch since Penelope is not used to being off the ground. The poor thing thought she was going to fall out the bottom!

Wait to see what we did with the other one!
