Fair Photos
This year I decided to be brave, to be bold! I have entered my photos in the New Mexico State Fair. Ahhhh!
It took me a while to decide what photos to enter and even then it was a little bit of a disaster.
First, trying to choose the photos. The fair only allows you to enter 3 photos. The photos have to be a maximum of 11x14 with an 11x14 mat. The problem I was running into, that I did not realize was going to be an issues, is that my camera doesn't naturally shoot in that frame, meaning I would have to crop, which changed the composition of the photos.
Problem number 2, where I got them printed affected the color. As you can see from the image below, it made a huge difference.
Once I got them all printed, they had to get matted.
I did not realize how hard it would be to get mat boards and backing in this town. I went to the Wal-Mart in Socorro, nothing. Then I went to the Wal-Mart about 30 minutes away in Belen, they had 1 type of mat to choose from, white. Well, that wasn't really what I was looking for. So I decided that we would go to the Hobby Lobby in Albuquerque. They had mats, but no backing. Just my luck. So I ended up using the mats from hobby lobby and the backing from wal-mart.
And so, I ended up assembling them in the parking lot of the arts center on the way to drop them off.
Luckily, we still had the table from the farmer's market in the car.
I find out next weekend how I did, so fingers crossed!
