Recycling on the Farm - Feed Bags
One thing that we try to do on the farm is to create as little waste as possible. I love having my farm, but I also love the earth and want to do my part to keep it green. So we like to compost, use recycled egg cartons, use bailing twine to attach labels, and we even use the left over bark from our fireplace and make wood chips for the garden.
Lately, I have been very upset about all the feed bags we use on the farm. With 40ish chickens, 13 ducks, rabbits, turkeys and horses; we go through a lot of feed. I hated just throwing them away, it seemed like such a waste! So we have started turning them into shopping bags!
I did have to brush up on my sewing skills. And I did wind up upgrading my sewing machine. I'll do another post on that later.
We are going to start a rewards program to encourage recycling. Finger's crossed!
