Swapping, it's like selling right?
So, my husband might be getting a little annoyed with me. Have you all ever heard the story of how a man became a millionaire by trading and swapping a nickle until he made a million dollars. I feel like I am like that, but with animals.
Our current trades include 4 chicks for a female chinchilla rabbit and 2 Pekin ducks for 2 Red Ranger pullets.
Farm people tend to like swapping. Its a lot easier than paying cash for things and it's a good way to get rid of excess and get what you need. For example, you may have read my post about the 18 ducks for $1 a piece? Well, now I have an abundance of ducks, but I could really use a few more hens, so a trade! Now I have less ducks, and 2 new pullets who will start laying the end of summer.
I also really wanted some new genetics in our rabbits. We have been having some bad luck on the rabbits, either not getting the girls pregnant, or not having good mamas. Now, I traded some chicks for a new doe. She comes from a line of good mothers, so I am very hopeful that we will get some nice breeding.
