Always Sex the Rabbits...

Sunday I went to a poultry swap.

While there, I decided to see a guy about a rabbit...

A guy who was there was interested in my male dutch rabbit, Daffy. He asked me if I would be interested in trading for a blue buck and I said, "sure, I don't have a blue." So we swap, I didn't double check to see if it was a male.

I like to keep my rabbits together in various cages so they have company. This works well for most of my rabbits and those that it doesn't, I typically swap or sell (hence, daffy). So we get home, and I put Blue in with Penelope (one of our 2 breeding bucks) and immediately they start mating and "he" lifts.

Huh, that's not right.

So I take "him" out and flip "him" over. Low and behold, it's a girl. Go figure.

I message the guy and inform him that he was wrong. Basically, he didn't have any clue what sex his rabbits were.

What we have learned, never take someones word for it. Daffy did decide to leave us a parting gift. He decided to mate Chinny, our grey chinchilla through the wire.
