Apple Cider Vinegar
This is a great video on the benefits of using Apple Cider Vinegar around the farm.
Like most things, I like to do a little research before I jump in. I decided to start adding it to the water to reduce algae growth. Being in New Mexico, there is a lot of sunshine and as such, the waterers get a lot of growth in them. So far, using the ACV has been great! The water and container is a lot cleaner, so much happier chickens.
With adding the ACV, the acidity of the water gets increased just slightly. This makes the water less susceptible to the algae because of the pH imbalance.
I have also noticed that since we started using it, the egg yolks are a more vibrant orange color. This is something a lot of buyers like to see since they associate egg color with nutritional value.
