Cool Weather is Rabbit Breeding Season

The weather is starting to cool down, we actually went from 90 to 40 in about a week.

Before it starts getting to cold at night, we are going to try to get a fall litter in. I have 1 doe that is pregnant who should be due in about a week or so. I have re-bred Chinny and I will start re-breeding black mama soon.

Rabbits are very sensitive to the temperatures when it comes to breeding, so we only get litters in spring and fall. During the winter, it is too cold so the babies will freeze because they are born hairless and in the summer, the males will actually develop heat infertility so you will get either no litters or the will be very small.

We were able to get 2 litters at the end of the summer from black mama and chinny. Ending with 3 babies total for the 2 litters.

We will keep you all updated on the fall breeding. Here is hoping for some cute litters!
