Big Boy Goes to School
One of our farm bunnies had a big day today, he got to go to 3 pre-K classes at the local elementary school.
I have partnered up with one of the local teachers, every spring she likes for her kids to get exposure to farms and an introduction to science, so she incubates eggs and they go through the development process. We usually provide her with the eggs. Last year, we talked about having me come out and discuss rabbits. So today, I did.
The kids loved it! We went through some of the basic physiology of rabbits, for example their ears for hearing and heat dispersion, and their claws for digging. I also talked about using them as compost and fertilizer for our gardens, the kids didn't like that part as much.
Overall, it was a great success. I wouldn't say that Big Boy loved it, but he tolerated it and the kids all loved it!
